Techniques for Detailed Shaping

A large part of the composition work is situated around activities supporting an operative image that gradually becomes more detailed and finally ends up in a detailed specification. Within interaction design, an amount of methods and tools has been developed to support these activities. In the following, a short description of a few of these methods is given.
Scenarios

A scenario is a written story describing how the future user uses the final system for a specific task. To write stories in a text is a fast and available way to contribute to the shaping of the design. The scenario should be as detailed and personal as possible and by that means making it possible to force yourself to ask and answer questions about the future users. Developing scenarios is a technique that supports building coherent visions and therefore helps anchoring these visions (Carroll 1995).
