Experience Clip

This method aims to provide data about dynamic interaction events evoking fleeting emotions with context information which would help the designer to interpret the data. In this method, users are asked to take video-clips with their mobile phone while other use the mobile application if focus for the test. This method focuses on providing users with a tool for reflecting the feelings and emotions which are evoked by using the device. The video was captured by a friend, hence the social situation becomes natural and it becomes easier for the user to express their emotions since it is a friend they correspond with. The positive experience of using this method was that is was easy to use, emotion expressions can be collected during use, it provides expressions of emotions in verbal from as well as with physical cues, it provides information about versatile usage situations, and it uses technology which the user were eager and comfortable to use. The negative experience of using this method wa that it requires special equipment, it is not suitable for long testing periods, interpreting emotions from video and analysing interpreted material is challenging, users may choose not to record all kinds of usage situations, external environmental conditions may have big impact on the quality of the video, it requires small groups of users (at least two) (Isomursu et al. 2007).
